Exclusion

What to do if you son/daughter is excluded from school?

If your child is excluded from school there is an agreed process which is followed by all schools in Sheffield. There are 2 types of exclusion, fixed term and permanent, the LEA has helpful information about this on their website LEA advice on exclusions . If an exclusion becomes permanent (Re-engagement) then further helpful advice concerning your rights and responsibilities is available at Permanent Exclusions .  From September 2007Parent/Carers have the responsibility of supervising a child who has been excluded for school for 5 days, after which time provision should be made by the LEA for your child e.g by The Key Stage 3 Inclusion Service.

The Key Stage 3 Inclusion Service provides education for excluded (re-engagement) students and reintegrates them back into another mainstream school in the city if and when appropriate.  A full explanation of the service we provide can be found in our Re-engagement Process chart.  If you are worried or concerned it is best to contact us directly via the Contact Us link - see above right.
